The call to regional circus artists for participation in the ‟OPEN STAGE‟ program

Cirk’Oblique from France in partnership with Cirkorama, Croatia and Cirkusfera, Serbia would like to extend an invitation to regional performing artists, especially circus artists for participating in the circus tent ‟Open Stage‟ program, as a part of the CIRKOBALKAN project.

The CIRKOBALKAN project promotes circus arts in the sense of education and performing in its original form, under the auspices of the circus tent, an autonomous space for training, creation and performing. The basic idea is to transform a circus tent into a modern form of multimedia space, to turn it into a place for anyone. The project will be carried out in Zagreb during April and in Belgrade during May.

Alongside the acts of domestic and foreign performers and circus collectives, the tent activities will include the art residency, film, music, and dance programs, and finally, perhaps the most important, the ‟Open Stage‟ program. We invite you to participate, and to perform in a circus tent, possibly for the first time.

All circus (and other performing arts) artists from the region have the right of entry, non-regarding previous experience.

Other conditions:

Performance, i.e. the act may last up to 10 minutes.

You may apply as a solo performer or as a group.

Obligatory data: performer’s first and last name (or the group name), the name of the act, a enclosed photograph and a video if possible (work in progress admissible), and a contact e-mail.

Application deadline for Zagreb: April 4th 2013.
Application deadline for Belgrade: May 5th 2013.

The organizers will try to meet any technical demands of the performers, according to the capacity of the performing space. If the performers do not have their own music, or wish the music to be played live, they will have the possibility of cooperation with musicians in preparing their acts. Every performer/group will receive 5 tickets for that show.

The organizer does not cover travel and food expenses.

The audience will be actively included in voting for the best act. The best act will be awarded, and the second and third ranked acts will receive consolation prizes.

Dates of performances:
Zagreb April 25th. 2013
Belgrade May 23 th 2013

Call for circus artists for participating in the program “The Circus Laboratory”

Circus skills workshops (aerial acrobatics-trapeze, acrobatic ring and silk, juggling, acrobalance, clown technique, equilibristics, stilt walking, hula hoop).

Zagreb every day from April 8th to April 11th from 16h until 20:30h.

Belgrade every day from May 6th to May 9th from 16h to 20:30h

We would like to extend an invitation for participation in workshops, as a part of the Circus a Arts Laboratory project, which will be held in the Cirkobalkana project’s circus tent this year. The intensive workshops will be held according to the following regime: every participant will attend all workshops during the first two days, rotating with eachother in order to gain insight into all previously mentioned skills. In the next two days the attendants will be able to choose one or more disciplines according to their interest. Depending on the degree of groups’ progress, there is a possibility of presenting the workshops in a way of final production. Our goal is to pass on practical knowledge to the interested parties, a knowledge that could be upgraded according to ones affinities.

The workshops will be run by circus artists members of the Cirk’Oblique troup (Fr), the Cirkusfera association (RS) and the Cirkorama association (Hr).

The Circus Arts Laboratory project was initiated in Zagreb in 2009. During the following three years, it has developed into a successful project of international cooperation between associations Cirkusfera from Belgrade and Cirkorama from Zagreb.

The wokshops are intended for the youth and all those who feel young (over 16 years of age). All interested parties will be duly informed about the location of the circus tent where the workshops will be held.
